Abstract: We examined the development of psychology and health, concluding that in this applied field multiple conceptions are coexisting under the same name. The differences found among them may or may not rest on articulated theoretical models, or key interface categories, which are fundamental for establishing a link between basic and applied health psychology. We argue the paramount importance to educate psychologists emphasizing their training in theoretical models as well as interventions to assure their professional competencies in the health field. |
